Friends,
As we come to the end of another busy year, the Notre Dame – Newman Centre gives thanks for the opportunity to serve the Church in South City Centre and to celebrate all that we have accomplished. As you look through this yearbook for 2024, I hope you will see our deep desire to bring life to the University Parish community, to create a place where thoughtful discussion about important spiritual and social matters can take place, and to be a beacon of joy and hope in the modern world.
Reading through these pages, you will see some of the major events and projects of the year. What you can’t see is the faith, dedication, and daily efforts of so many people that allow the Centre and parish to be sources of good in our world. Everyday parishioners and staff give of themselves as lectors, Eucharistic ministers, sacristans, ministry coordinators, cantors, choir members, choral librarians, laundry workers, stewards, catechists, and event coordinators. It is the silent work behind the scenes that keeps this place going. It is desire to serve God and neighbour that turns mundane tasks into ministry.
As we celebrate the many accomplishments of this past year, I want to pause and thank all of you who serve the parish and one another in some way. Though your efforts may seem thankless at times, please know that we are deeply thankful for your service and your support. Let us always strive to make God known, loved and served and may our every effort be his.
